Global Hotel Industry Trends 2016

566e7617d399d$550 billion US dollars is what the predicted revenue figure for the global hotel industry will be by years end.

The industry is booming as evidenced by the sharp rise in revenue in the past few years. In 2009 for example, the hotel industry as a whole was worth $395 billion US dollars and by 2011 that figure had increased to $457 billion US dollars.

Europe and Asia dominate as the regions with the most filled rooms holding a 68% occupancy rate.

Asia is the region to watch though as the average room rate in this region is a little over $115 US dollars compared to the average room rate in the Africa and Middle East region which stands at a little over $165 US dollars, the most expensive globally.
